The visage of the entomologist displays the stillness of a monk. The gaping and carnivorous looking maw of the cartoon character on his sweatshirt links our human mouth with the mandibles of an insect. The monk (entomologist) has both a vastly curious and humble mind, it seems, to take words we all think we know the meaning of, and examine them again to find more meaning still. The photography is gorgeous, and the linking of the particular words with the images very moving, Castle.

A startlingly beautiful picture of the entomologist. The light resembles the light in the specimen jars. Come to think of it, the words out of sentences float rather luminously, too. I love the way this is all composed!

Had a look at my comments which Interrobangbros was kind enough to make available and I had to laugh when I realized that I hadn't followed my own advice. I myself failed to show some of the scientific names in italics or underscored after making the point that scientists do such things routinely. Nothing critical of course. And while we are on the subject note that the authors of these names should not be treated in this way. Just write them as you would any name.

I daresay that first man appears the not the slightest bit of thirst, despite the size of his beverage. Something is afoot, perhaps.

#1 I love the combination you caught of offering and just a slight hint of menace: Would you take the Double Gulp? Not me! Might be the modern equivalent of Persephone & the pomegranate seeds. (Is the 7-11 man looking at us or not? He seems to be but his eyes aren't in the proper place for that, are they?)

Is #2 verifiably a man?

#3 All points to MUCH to offer, not the least of which is a past of much to offer--coat of arms, ancestors--and of course all of those new shiny things.

GREAT pictures.

The man from outside 7-Eleven stuck with me the longest. I'm so curious about his life. I bet that he has seven tiny dogs, and that he doesn't own a tv, and that he is illiterate. Those are my bets.
